Quinoa who?  Jigga what?  Quinoa is a rock star these days because it is very high in many nutrients.  Quinoa is often referred to as a whole grain but its actually the seed of a plant, similar to beets and spinach.  One of the many benefits of quinoa is that it is high in protein and is a complete protein source, providing all 9 essential amino acids.  Quinoa is very high in lycine, an amino acid that is key to tissue growth and repair.

Another benefit of quinoa is that its high in fiber and will make you feel satisfied when eating so you don’t overeat.  Also, it is high in phosphorous, folate, and Vitamin B-2…which decreases stress, enhances energy, relaxes blood vessels and fights off migraines.  In addition, Quinoa is high in magnesium, which which is an antioxidant, prevents heart disease, lowers the risk of diabetes, and promotes cardiovascular health.

Quinoa can be found in most grocery stores and all you have to do is boil it to cook it. You can mix anything with it….consider it a substitute for rice but better tasting and not has heavy.  Great for vegans and gluten-free dieters.  Enjoy the benefits of quinoa!
