Circle of Inspiration

I created a little exercise to reconnect with your Spirit….it can be a fun way to look at yourself from a different perspective.  Take a large piece of paper and draw a big circle…..make a dot in the center….this dot represents you.  I should note this is just a draft….you don’t have to be meticulous….any simple white paper will do.   Take a moment to think about who and/or what has inspired you….past and present.  Maybe a teacher, a family member, an icon, a guru, historic leader, a celebrity, an artist, a mythic figure, a character….. maybe its a thing or object like a certain kind of flower, a classic book, a car, a piece of clothing that you love (or would love to fit in!)……Who or What inspires you?

Now write down these things or people within the circle….I would suggest people you look up to or aspire to emulate be positioned at different points within the upper half of the circle…..and things or objects at different points within the lower half (since they are tangible earthly grounded objects).  If you are inspired by attaining something or a level of notoriety in the future….those can be placed within the upper half….but there is no right or wrong way to do this.  Listen to your intuition and place them where you feel its appropriate within the circle.

Once you have written all that inspires you within the circle…and with you, the dot, at the center…..take a look at the whole picture.  How does it look?  How does it make you feel?  Is there anything you would like to add?  Mediate on it for a bit….see what pops into your head….and take note of what comes to mind on a separate piece of paper or within a journal if you feel like it.

If you feel inclined, you can take it a step further and create a new draft on nicer paper, with markers, paints, glitter, colored pens, whatever feels right.  This a a place to have a creative outlet and create something for yourself….a reflection of your Spirit and a gift for you to look at and appreciate….to inspire you and uplift you if you ever feel like you’re in a funk.

This may sound similar to a vision board…..but its different….its a Circle of Inspiration….reflecting your Spirit from the past, in the present, and the future.  You can keep this piece of yourself in your closet, under your bed, or you can proudly display it, put it next to your bed or on your dresser, in the bathroom, or even take it with you wherever you go.  You can always add more to it if you like…..its your Spirit that you create….and no one can that the away from you!
