Set Your Intentions

It is not uncommon to get caught up in the daily grind and lose sight of one’s true goals….what one hopes to get out of life….who they really are and not who or what others want them to be.  We can lose our connection to our Spirit when we don’t take inventory every so often and revaluate our progress…if we are being true to ourselves….and honoring our Spirit by utilizing our gifts.

It is very important to set intentions….to say our intentions out loud and also to write them down.   Doing this anchors our intentions within our everyday life…..its the power of suggestion.  What are your goals for this year….this month….this day….or even just this afternoon?  What would you like to obtain, achieve, accomplish?  Where would you like to be?  If you’re so inclined, make a list in a journal.  Say your intentions out loud….verbalize it….speak it and you will live it.

You do not have to be an over-achiever… does not have to be a big deal… do not have to rule the world (though you could!).  Maybe its a new job or career, maybe its something more materialistic, maybe it a new relationship or you hope to get out of a relationship.  Setting the intention to do something is the first step to making it happen.  You don’t have to beat yourself up if it does not pan out….everything happens for a reason and there are lessons to be learned even in the process of setting an intention and being let down by not achieving it.  But there really is power in intentions…..therefore you should honor your intentions.  Intentions lead to action!  Dream big…..let your imagination run with it…..this will really instill a sense of peace on many levels subconsciously and consciously.  You really can achieve so much… not lose sight of that….check in with yourself and set your intentions!

Circle of Inspiration

I created a little exercise to reconnect with your Spirit….it can be a fun way to look at yourself from a different perspective.  Take a large piece of paper and draw a big circle…..make a dot in the center….this dot represents you.  I should note this is just a draft….you don’t have to be meticulous….any simple white paper will do.   Take a moment to think about who and/or what has inspired you….past and present.  Maybe a teacher, a family member, an icon, a guru, historic leader, a celebrity, an artist, a mythic figure, a character….. maybe its a thing or object like a certain kind of flower, a classic book, a car, a piece of clothing that you love (or would love to fit in!)……Who or What inspires you?

Now write down these things or people within the circle….I would suggest people you look up to or aspire to emulate be positioned at different points within the upper half of the circle…..and things or objects at different points within the lower half (since they are tangible earthly grounded objects).  If you are inspired by attaining something or a level of notoriety in the future….those can be placed within the upper half….but there is no right or wrong way to do this.  Listen to your intuition and place them where you feel its appropriate within the circle.

Once you have written all that inspires you within the circle…and with you, the dot, at the center…..take a look at the whole picture.  How does it look?  How does it make you feel?  Is there anything you would like to add?  Mediate on it for a bit….see what pops into your head….and take note of what comes to mind on a separate piece of paper or within a journal if you feel like it.

If you feel inclined, you can take it a step further and create a new draft on nicer paper, with markers, paints, glitter, colored pens, whatever feels right.  This a a place to have a creative outlet and create something for yourself….a reflection of your Spirit and a gift for you to look at and appreciate….to inspire you and uplift you if you ever feel like you’re in a funk.

This may sound similar to a vision board…..but its different….its a Circle of Inspiration….reflecting your Spirit from the past, in the present, and the future.  You can keep this piece of yourself in your closet, under your bed, or you can proudly display it, put it next to your bed or on your dresser, in the bathroom, or even take it with you wherever you go.  You can always add more to it if you like…..its your Spirit that you create….and no one can that the away from you!

Write It Down!

Thoughts, ideas, insights, and messages pass through our heads constantly….millions of times a day.  Make a point of having a journal handy and jot down random thoughts as they occur to you.  Many times I have done so and when I go back and read what I have written, I am shocked and surprised….thinking….did I write that?

So often we do not anchor these fleeting thoughts into our conscious existence and we miss opportunities of pure potential.  These fleeting thoughts come from your Spirit….your Higher Self as well as your team of Guides who communicate all the time… but many people usually do not take the time to listen and record.  Try writing down your random thoughts as they come and before they go….see what happens!

What Do You Love?

What do you love?  What fills you with joy?  Recognize the little things that make you happy….get you excited….make you buzz…and put a smile on your face.  When you connect with what brings you joy you are connecting with Spirit….which opens up your intuition, centers you, and brings balance to your life.

People who know me well know that I am a HUGE Janet Jackson fan…..watching her perform feeds my Spirit!
